Leandro Espinosa is composer, conductor, and Assistant Professor of Music at Eastern Oregon University.  His activities have included participation in international festivals such as the International Cervantine Festival, and the International Forum of New Music in Mexico.  In the US, he participated in the Exhibition Mexico, a Work of Art 1990-91, organized by the National Council for Culture and the Arts of Mexico and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York, San Antonio, and Los Angeles.  In Europe, he participated in the International Festival of Choreography of Bagnolet (France), Capitulaciones de Santa Fé (Spain), Gestes 85 (Brussels), and the Berchem International Festival.  

Compositional works have been commissioned by the Fonds Alex de Vries of Belgium and produced by the Royal University of Ghent and the Belgian Radio and Television Network (RUG-BRT), University of Utah, National Funds for Culture and the Arts of Mexico, and the National Institute of Fine Arts of Mexico (INBA) among others.  Professor Espinosa has been the recipient of three Eastern Oregon University Faculty Scholars awards.  Recordings of his music include by The Philharmonic Orchestra of the City of Mexico, the Symphony Orchestra of Monterrey (OSUANL), and guitar solo music on the labels Pro-disc in the series Mexican Classics, and Koch-Schwann-Aulos. 

Prizes include, from the National Funds for Culture and the Arts of Mexico to The Intellectuals and Creators of Mexico, the University of Missouri-Kansas City Chamber Music 2000, and the 2000/2001 ASCAP Foundation Raymond Hubbell scholarship.  He is presently Music Director and Conductor of the Grande Ronde Symphony Orchestra at Eastern Oregon University; the former Music Director of the Musica Nova Ensemble at the University of Missouri-Kansas City; chamber orchestra of the Technological Institute of Superior Studies of Monterrey; the chamber orchestra of the Superior School of Music and Dance Carmen Romano de Lopez Portillo of Monterrey and chamber orchestra of the University of Coahuila.  He is also former Assistant Conductor of the Independence Symphony and Peabody Camerata, former Associate Professor of Cello at the Superior School of Music and Dance of Monterrey (Mexico) and former member of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the City of Mexico.
